About Us

With over 28 years in business, HCH is an Award winning construction company that has developed many projects throughout the Newcastle and Hunter Valley regions. Our work has included small commercial constructions, duplexes, multi-unit projects and a diverse range of architecturally designed homes built to owner supplied plans and specifications. HCH has experienced a steady and controlled growth each trading year and this is reflected in the level of Home Owners Warranty Insurance cover that we can offer our customers, and insurance cover which is mandatory on each residential project.

We pride ourselves on our ability to provide a quality service and product whilst maintaining competitive market rates for each development. At HCH, we believe in excellent value for money for our clients. As you are no doubt aware, the cheapest quote is not always the best option. This is especially true in the building industry where job inclusions and specifications can vary enormously. Once we have received all of your CC plans and documentation we are happy to provide a fixed and firm quotation amount with no hidden extras along the way.

Each project is assigned to our construction department after contracts have been signed, and all internal and external product and colour selections have been received from our clients. This allows us to place orders for trades and products promptly and accurately before the project has commenced which in turn locks in the current building rates which keeps any price increases at bay, this approach affords our clients an enjoyable and well communicated building experience. A supervisor is then allocated to control your project and he will keep you informed in regards to the progress on your project. All the usual and statutory guarantees and warranties are provided and we offer an after-completion and handover service that is second-to-none. We expect to create a friendship with each client and see that friendship remain long after the contract and works have been completed, so it really is our goal to ensure you are completely satisfied with your building experience in the hope that if you build again you would select HCH.

We have also won many HIA Hunter Housing Awards since, including Custom Build Home of the Year 2002, 2004 & 2006; Townhouse/Unit of the Year 2003; Display Home of the Year 2005, 2009; Townhouse/Villa Project of the Year; 2010 Townhouse/Villa Development for the Frederick Street, Merewether townhouses; and, recently, 2011 Finalist Custom Home Construction Over $1million. All in all we have won varying awards for the last 12 years, last award being in 2015. We continue to win awards for our custom duplexes and multi unit developments that we undertake these days, we feel this niche is a good fit for our business and we have many repeat developers who continue to place their trust in the team here at HCH.
 

History

Hunter Coast Homes Pty Limited commenced trading in June 1993 and has been involved with more than 650 local projects throughout the region.

The company was initially formed by Trevor Bice, a current director, in partnership with his wife, Karen. Initially, the company was known as Bicebuild P/L. The business was operated from Trevor's residence for the first 7 years of trading, which allowed the company to enjoy steady growth, cost control and immediate attention to customers' needs, business ethics that are still very much focused upon today. In 1995, the company Bicebuild Pty Ltd was formed and started trading as Hunter Coast Homes. This path was followed for 4 years before 1999 saw the building industry heading for its busiest period ever with the introduction of the GST on July 1, 2000. This period throughout the building industry was unbelievably busy, with demand outweighing supply enormously and resources stretched to breaking point.

In May 2000, Darren Rodgers joined the company during the mad pre-GST period and ended up purchasing fifty percent of the business in July 2000 to become a full partner and fellow Director of HCH. Further changes were then necessary, the company name was changed to Hunter Coast Homes Pty Ltd and the company was re-located to an office space in Lambton. As part of the expansion plans, more staff were employed to help with the ever increasing workloads we were experiencing.

Following on from Lambton we were on the lookout once more for larger premises again and purchased the former Aristocrat Poker Machine building in Christo road Georgetown, we spent the next 5 years there growing the business until we decided to go again.

We have recently completed a new head office and warehousing facility at Carrington from where we are operating. We have included state of the art kitchens, bathrooms and construction, so our clients can see the level of finishes and expertise that they can come to expect from one of Newcastle's most respected building companies. Carrington Offices were completed in 2012 and are still our current work address, if history is anything to go by we will be due to move again in the next few years to maintain our averages.

Today our staff levels have grown and our employees are committed to customer service and delivering a quality product to our clients on time and on budget. The Hunter Coast team is as follows:
